About Albanian Community Mental Health (ACMH)

Albanian Community Mental Health (ACMH) is a Toronto-based, global initiative dedicated to reducing stigma and providing culturally sensitive, evidence-based mental health services and resources for the Albanian community across the world.

Dr. Arela Agako

ACMH was founded by Dr. Arela Agako, who holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from McMaster University and is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, specializes in trauma-related issues, anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties. Her research on the role of emotions in mental health has been featured in various publications, including Psychology Today and Forbes. She also co-founded the app Repair, aimed at enhancing communication in relationships, and established Trauma Care Psychology, focusing on trauma support.

As a contributor to the Albanian Book Festival, ACMH supports initiatives that promote Albanian language, culture, and community connection, recognizing the powerful role that storytelling, literature, and shared cultural spaces play in mental health, identity, and collective resilience.
